With Covid rapidly making its way around the country, chances are you or someone you know is currently in self-isolation - this was certainly the case for some of the CostumeBox staff over Christmas and New Year. If this is you and you’re looking for a way to pass the time, this is our survival guide on how CostumeBox team members kept occupied during isolation.
We Watched...
First thing’s first, isolation is a great time to tick off that ever-growing watch list you might have. And one of the best things about iso watching is there’s no one around the judge what you choose! What better way to pass the time than finally sitting down to watch that movie or series that you’ve never gotten ‘round to. Or if you’re looking for something new to check out, here’s a list of what shows and movies kept us company during isolation:
- Encanto: Disney’s latest release ‘Encanto’ tells the story of a family who live in the mountains of Colombia in a charming place called the Encanto. The movie’s catchy songs, heartwarming message and enchanted animation make it a great, light-hearted movie to add to your list.
- Don’t Look Up: This recent release attracted a lot of attention due to its star-studded cast and its cryptic message about climate change. However, the reviews are mixed on it’s popularity. Watch it for yourself and see what you take away from ‘Don’t Look Up’ on Netflix.
- The Wheel of Time: The #1 streamed show in the world for its first three weeks, is Amazon Prime’s ‘The Wheel of Time’. Based on the book series by Robert Jordan, this high-fantasy show follows Moiraine on her quest to find the Dragon Reborn - who will inevitably save the world, or destroy it.
- The Dog House: If you’re after a show that will melt your heart, then ‘The Dog House Australia’ is it. Available to stream on Channel 10’s ‘10Play’, The Dog House is a series that sees rescue dogs in search of their forever home. There’s also a UK-based series that is equally as adorable.
- Hung: If you’re after a show that will make you laugh, then the comedy/drama series ‘Hung’ is one to add to your list. Available to stream on Binge, the series sees high school sports teach Ray Drecker, who is short on money, decides to use his biggest ‘asset’ to turn his life around.

We Baked...
Perhaps you want to use your isolation to refine your cooking skills, or simply just have some fun in the kitchen. During our isolation, we got into the Christmas Spirit and baked some delicious Christmas tree brownies, which you can find the recipe for here. Just cause Christmas is over, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy this delicious and fun recipe (At least that’s what we told ourselves).
Sweet tooths rejoice! CostumeBox has all the baking supplies you could ask for, from sprinkles, and edible glitter to cutters and molds. Why not try your hand at baking a delicious cake, beautiful cupcakes or cute cookies. Or if you know someone who’s in isolation, a delivery of handmade sweet treats would be a thoughtful gift that would surely make their day.
