With Halloween fast approaching, it’s time to start thinking about what sort of Halloween costume you will wear, and most importantly, what SFX (special effects!) makeup you can do to make your look stand out from the rest. After all, there’s no point going all out on a costume if you’re not going to back it up with some equally awesome Halloween makeup. If you’re in need of some SFX inspiration, then let us introduce you to our latest muse, Nikki aka ‘Brightside of Nikki’.

Nikki, best known as @brightsideofnikki on Instagram and Tiktok, is a SFX and creative makeup artist based in Sydney, Australia. You may have already noticed Nikki frequenting our socials, as she uses a number of CostumeBox products in her colourful array of images, videos and tutorials. Nikki’s creative looks range from sweet fairytale characters to horrifying Halloween special effects and everything in between, making her a great source of inspiration for all things SFX. Let us take you through some of our favourite looks from @brightsideofnikki so far;

1. Mulan/Dragon:

Inspired by the classic Disney film ‘Mulan’ comes Nikki’s first look. The look is an eye-catchingly dramatic fusion of main character Mulan, and her trusty dragon sidekick Mushu. To create Nikki’s look for yourself, you can find some of the items she used to create this look right here at CostumeBox:

2. Snow White - Evil Witch:

Nikki’s next look is one that you NEED to try this Halloween, as she channels the Evil Witch from the classic fairytale Snow White. Perhaps one of the most infamous fairytale villains, the Evil Witch gives Snow White the Poisoned Apple, which sends its victim into the Sleeping Death. To achieve this wicked look, Nikki used the following products from CostumeBox:

3. Galaxy Zipper

If you’re after a not-so-terrifying SFX makeup look this Halloween, then Nikki’s ‘Galaxy Zipper’ is one you need to try for yourself. To create her out of this world look, Nikki used these CostumeBox products:

Keep an eye on our socials for more upcoming SFX makeup looks from Brightside of Nikki, as we’ll be providing you with some super cool looks that’ll be sure to help kickstart your creativity this Halloween.
