Cover Your Tattoos With These 5 Simple Steps

Cover Your Tattoos With These 5 Simple Steps

Vanessa is a Sydney-based content specialist who is passionate about all things pop culture. When she isn't creating content or cosplaying, you can find her rehearsing for the next musical she's in.

In today’s world, you’re unlikely to come across someone under 30 without a tattoo. I have [quite] a few and as a cosplayer and stage performer, I know that sometimes it’s essential to cover up those tatts. After all, you can’t be an 1800s beggar revealing a floral tattoo on your forearm while you beg for bread.

Here’s my step-by-step guide on how to effectively cover your tattoos.

What you’ll need:

- Primer

- Mehron Tattoo Cover palette

- Dermablend Liquid Foundation (your skin tone)

- Powder brush

- Sponge applicator

- Setting powder

- Setting spray

Step 1: Priming . Make sure your skin is clean and free from oils and dirt and then apply your primer over the area you wish to cover.

Step 2: Correcting. Take your sponge and the Mehron Tattoo cover palette and choose a dark colour to cover your tattoo.

Step 3: Covering. Again on the Mehron Tattoo cover palette, choose the closest colour to your skin tone or blend colours together. Apply lightly over the colour correction.

Step 4: Blending. Using the Dermablend foundation, apply over the whole area and into the surrounding skin until blended.

Step 5: Setting. Using your setting powder, lightly powder over your tattoo until the area is not moist or sticky. Lightly spray over the area you’ve covered with setting spray (I use Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray but hairspray also does the trick).

Voila! Go get on stage and perform or rock that cosplay you’ve been working on.
