CostumeBox Content Producers Top Costume Predictions For Halloween 2021

Author: Lauren Cappie-Wood / Posts / Published: 27/10/2021

As if this year hasn’t already been scary enough, it’s hard to believe that Spooky Season is upon us, so if you haven’t already, it’s time to start planning what you’ll be wearing this Halloween. If you’re after some on-trend Halloween costume inspiration, then you’ve come to the right place. From Netflix shows to celebrities to Halloween classics, these are some of our predictions on what’s going to be big for Halloween 2021.

1. Squid Game

You probably saw this one coming, as it’s the show on everyone’s lips right now. Squid Game is Netflix’s most popular series ever and has taken the world by storm, and its release so close to Halloween means it will more than likely be a top costume for Halloween 2021. The simple outfits worn by characters in Squid Game also mean it is an easy costume to create yourself - The players wear a matching green tracksuit with a white t-shirt, while the guards wear red jumpsuits and black masks with different shapes. Be sure to check out our DIY Squid Game costume blog or our range of tracksuits that could easily be transformed into your very own Squid Game costume.

2. Britney Spears

With so many iconic looks over the years, Britney Spears has always been a great costume idea for Halloween, and we predict she’ll be more popular than ever as a costume idea in 2021. Spears featured heavily in the news this year when the battle over her father’s 13 year conservatorship gained global media coverage. This spotlight on Britney had the world reflecting on her iconic career and the outfits that came with it, from her schoolgirl outfit in ‘...Baby One More Time’ to the infamous denim look worn by her and Justin Timberlake at the 2001 American Music Awards.

3. Kim Kardashian at the Met Gala

Kim Kardashian is no stranger to a headline, and her outfit worn to the 2021 Met Gala certainly landed her in a few. Kim walked the Met Gala red carpet in none other than a blacked out Balenciaga gown with a matching mask and train, completely obscuring her face and any other identifiable features. This look was plastered across headlines all around the world, some praising its inventiveness, others calling it polarising, however, love it or hate it, this outfit sure got everyone talking so expect to see plenty of interpretations this spooky season.

4. Scream

Without a doubt, one of the most popular Halloween costumes of all time has to be Ghostface from Scream. The Scream franchise began in 1996 and currently consists of 4 films, with the 5th due for release in 2022. 2021 marks the 25th anniversary of the first ‘Scream’, with fans across the world celebrating the iconic films, leading us to believe this will be a popular costume option for Halloween 2021.

5. A Nightmare On Elm Street

Originally released in 1984, A Nightmare On Elm Street is a supernatural slasher film that has become a Halloween classic. The star of the film, Freddy Kruger is always a popular costume option for Halloween, however, we predict it to be even more popular this year due to beauty mogul Kylie Jenner’s makeup line ‘Kylie Cosmetics’ releasing a limited edition A Nightmare On Elm Street collaboration. Kylie poses for the collection in a nude unitard with burn mark details, so don’t be surprised if you see renditions of this Freddy Kruger-inspired look this Halloween alongside the original.
