Halloween Is Coming: 5 Best Games Of Thrones Costume Ideas
Looking for some of the best Game of Thrones Costume Ideas for this year’s Halloween celebrations? Based on George RR Martin’s best selling book series ”A Song of Ice and Fire”, Game of Thrones is set in a medieval fantasy land where two powerful families play a deadly game – with the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms the final prize.

Daenerys costume
Daenerys Targaryen is the only daughter of King Aerys II and Queen Rhaella who were deposed from the Iron Throne during the rebellion of Robert Baratheon who became King Robert I. The House of Targaryen had ruled Westeros for 300 years, but Daenerys was forced to marry a foreign lord against her will, eventually becoming heir to the Targaryen dynasty when her brother is killed. Over the following years, she becomes a powerful ruler, conquering three cities, and wants not only to end slavery and injustice, but also to reclaim the Iron Throne for herself.
There are so many different outfits you can choose for your Daenerys costume, but you need to start with a long blonde wig. One of the easiest costumes is a long sleeveless flowing dress with a halter top that flows perfectly from just under the bustline. Add a decorative armband to each of your upper arms, curl the wig so that you have long curls flowing down your back and you have the perfect Daenerys outfit for Halloween!
Arya Stark costume
Arya Stark is the younger daughter of Lord Eddard Stark and Lady Catelyn Stark of House Stark, which has ruled the north of Westeros since the Age of Heroes, although subservient to House Targaryen. Arya is young, unladylike and independent, learning to fight and protect herself with her sword “Needle”. After her father is arrested and killed, she goes on the run and is captured, then escapes and after having numerous difficult adventures, eventually becomes an assassin.
For your Arya Stark costume, you will need a brown long-sleeved jacket, brown trousers that tuck into brown boots and a lighter colour round neck collarless shirt. You could also throw a brown cloak over your shoulders and don’t forget your sword. Apart from finding the sword, this must be one of the easiest Game of Thrones Halloween costume ideas!
White Walker costume
White Walkers are a malevolent nonhuman species that existed millennia before the present day in a time when there was a pact between the Children of the Forest (elf-like creatures) and the First men. This pact was threatened by the emergence of the Others who created a winter that lasted for decades. The strength of the Others was thwarted by the Children of the Forest and the First Men working together and The Wall was built of ice, magic and stone to keep the Others north of the Westeros. So old are the Others that they are believed to be only a myth, but now they have re-emerged and are gaining power.
To create your authentic White Walker costume you need everything in black – boots, trousers, long-sleeved crew cut t-shirt and cloak. You can wear a long scraggly white-haired wig, but it’s not necessary, but you will need to source a face mask unless you are really clever with makeup! Oh, don’t forget your formidable-looking spear!
Jon Snow costume
Otherwise known as Aegon Targaryen, Jon Snow is the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen but was raised by Eddard Stark (Lyanna’s brother), as his bastard son and half-brother to Arya without ever knowing his real parents. Raised at Winterfell, Jon joined the Night’s Watch at 14 years of age and wants to prove himself as good as his half-brother Robb; because of his heritage, he always felt like an outsider in the Stark family, but on The Wall, Jon becomes a mentor and leader to others in the Night’s Watch. After many convolutions, Jon becomes the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, due to his much-maligned heritage.
This is another of the easiest Game of Thrones costumes to pull together for Halloween! You want everything in black and dark brown, from your boots and trousers to your tunic, long-sleeved crew-neck t-shirt and your cloak. Don’t forget that your cloak needs a large fur collar that flows over the shoulders and you need a very big sword!
Bronn costume
Bronn is not one of the nobility, but a skilled and dangerous sellsword who is the personal bodyguard and enforcer of Tyrion Lannister (youngest son of Joanna Lannister and Lord Tywin Lannister, rulers of House Lannister). Over the years, Bronn gains power and status by using his cunning and staying out of harm’s way until a solution arises that benefits himself more than others. After the fall of House Lannister, Bronn becomes Lord of Highgarden and Master of Coin, a huge increase in status from a lowly sellsword!
Your Bronn costume can be as simple as a dark brown leather jacket and trousers over dark boots with a sword and sword belt or a knee-length dark brown tunic over a long-sleeved t-shirt, trousers and a long cloak with or without a large fur collar. You also want to muddy up your face, because Bronn always looks as if he has rolled in mud!
