Poor quality and design

"I really don't mean to be the kind of person to leave a negative review, but unfortunately a negative review is simply a reflection of a negative experience. I received these shoes today and actually have not worn them out, just tried them on a couple of times. On the first time I tried them, I noticed that they fit incorrectly. I was a bit puzzled as the size chart said a US 10 = AU 9 (my size), and given that the site also said sizes were in standard US sizing, i thought getting a 10 would fit my 9. So imagine my surprise when i noticed my feet slipping from the back. . . I was confused but not discouraged, as I just thought that I could fill in the gap by layering a few pairs of socks (2-3, medium thickness). I put on the shoes and on my right foot, the strap snapped. It didn't break, but rather, it unattached from the button. This is where a fundamental flaw within the shoe design comes in. 1. The strap should be made of a more elastic material - if the strap is gonna be going over the arch in the very middle, the fabric used for the strap should be a lot more elastic to support the steeper curve of the arch. When i kept trying to put the strap over my arch i noticed that the hole in the strap was a whole centimetre off from where the button was - thus, every time i put my foot in the shoe, the strap would always snap off and un-attach itself from the button. If it were made of a more elastic material, it would be able to stretch itself over the arch and clip in with the button without coming undone. Another thing - the strap should have multiple notches, not one. 2. The button design. Okay, i don't know whether this was manufacturing issue or a design issue, or both. When i would pull the elastic through the hole in the strap and attach the small metal hook, the handles of the hook would go into the holes of the button, ultimately making me believe the issue was fixed. But the problem was, the handles would not go inside the button properly in the sense that one tiny tug on the button would make the two come apart, thus making the strap come apart consequently (emphasis on the 'tiny'). I don't know if maybe I just didn't push hard enough for the handles to be locked in place, but i literally used as much muscle strength as i could pushing the two together to make sure it was secure, yet with the strength of my bony fingers i could somehow pull them apart? It just didn't seem adequate. The button should've locked in place with the hook but the fact that one little could tug could make the whole thing come apart was disappointing. Even when my foot was finally in I tried to apply as much pressure to prevent the button and hook from coming undone, yet failed as the strap would just come off, the button coming off as a product and the elastic coming out of the strap hole which has pulled back from pressure. 3. Overall design: Somehow, the left one is fine, but what i've noticed is that on my left foot, the strap is located below the high point of my arch, maybe being the reason as to why no buttons are popping off or straps coming undone. Overall, I think the design of the strap and button are very inaccurate and inadequate. As i stated earlier, the strap should be made of fabric to easily stretch over the arch - especially if placed in the very centre! Also, why wasn't the button just a metal press one which was attached to the strap and then clicked in place with a snap fastener? The combination of the a stretchy strap and snap press metal buttons would've made it much easier for the shoes to wear. Instead I had to spend an hour doing trial and error with the complicated design of the shoe. All in all, maybe the whole issue might be the fact that I layered my socks. But the thing is, the socks make my foot greater in size which are fit for the shoe, meaning a person with this size would have the same struggles as i getting the strap over their arch and whatnot. What I can say about these shoes that's really good is their appearance! I was very satisfied, I was afraid they were going to look clownish or chunky because I have bigger feet, but they looked just the way I wanted them to :). Despite this, I'm still very disappointed with the design. It's complicated and there's a real weakness in the production. Once again, so sorry to write the negative review, and perhaps it really is my mistake, but i can't help being disappointed. If there's anything I messed up or if there's anything I can do to fix the whole thing please let me know. Considering asking for a refund not going to lie. . . . Okay goodbye"
