CostumeBox.com.au launched in 2007 with the mission to provide Australia with the biggest range of costumes and accessories online, with fast shipping and at competitive prices.
The idea for CostumeBox.com.au is the brainchild of Nikki Yeaman and Roma Burke. Based out of Sydney's Northern Beaches, the pair met in their obstetrician's waiting room in 1998; at the time they were both six months pregnant. During their time in the Doctor's waiting room they developed a strong friendship which formed the basis of their business partnership. They recognised a gap in the Australian fancy dress market while searching for costumes for their children; it seemed like the US and UK had large ranges online compared to the choice in Australia, and shipping times and costs often made it unrealistic to purchase overseas. Hiring costumes ran as expensive as purchasing: there had to be a better way. They set out to build a place online where Australian's could buy costumes right here at home.
These were the early days of Australian online retail, but they curated a diverse range of costumes for kids, men, and women, creating a one-stop shop for everything needed for a fantastic night out. From wigs to shoes, makeup and party supplies, CostumeBox.com.au has now grown to boast Australia's largest fancy dress inventory online.
